    MPLOY 2016 Youth and Parent Orientation
    MPLOY provides City of Memphis youth ages 14 to 21 with meaningful and rewarding summer experiences through various career path options according to the participants’ strengths and interests, including soft skills training, entry-level positions, and internships. 1,000 students were selected through a randomly generated lottery for participation in MPLOY 2016. The Youth and Parent Orientation served to prepare MPLOY students and their parents with relevant information about their expectations as MPLOY students.

    Memphis Youth City Council Inauguration Ceremony
    The Memphis Youth City Council is a youth member council that serves to represent youth interests in the City of Memphis government. Students serve as an advisory board to the Mayor and the Memphis City Council. One high school from each city council district was randomly selected from a computer-based lottery to elect student representatives for each city council position, and each youth city council member was elected by peers at their own school after running their campaigns. The Inaugural Ceremony for the Memphis Youth City Council was held on August 4, 2016.

    Southern Heritage Classic College and Career Fair
    The annual College Fair was expanded to include a career exploration component, an on-site tech lab, and special guest appearances. Thousands of students from within Shelby County and the surrounding areas participated.
